Juliet’s Dinner is a collaborative video project between Elsa Wong and Stephanie Jane Burt. Featuring the track “Last Day” by Subsonic Eye, the project features Juliet (played by Burt) trapped at a dinner party. Juliet becomes intrigued by a dollhouse and is pulled towards it. She eventually manages to escape the dinner party and wakes up in the dollhouse.
Stephanie Jane Burt is an artist whose practice spans from sculptural installations to fictional prose. Her work invites the viewer to explore dialogues between her installations and their settings through a fictional narrative at times referencing film and literature. Her research looks across feminism, gender, an analysis of girl culture and the nouveau roman. She recently started a research project, A Stubborn Bloom, which explores representations of femininity within fashion, film and material culture.
Elsa Wong practices with mediums such as photography, videography and set design. She materialises by imagining environments and proceeds to build them or finds an environment she is intrigued to explore. These minute moments and interactions between human/ objects/ environments are captured and presented as still/ moving images and installations.
