Earworms like ourSelf is a hallucinogenic compost of extracts from music that tunnels/tunneled through our heads. Linked to the constant environmental soundtracks of popular music one gets regularly exposed to in urban settings- or those we play for ourselves to get through the day- an earworm can be considered a medical condition when relentlessly persistent and forms a sonic layer of associations and contexts.
This feverish, humid tinnitus contains distorted notes and lyrical excerpts from ‘Diamonds’ by Rihanna, ‘Faded’ by Alan Walker, ‘Meta-angel’ and ‘Jealousy’ by FKA Twigs, ‘Human’ by Sevdaliza, and the poem ‘Earthworm’ by Louise Gluck, with melodic base notes of the Danza Rabiosa Kuduro mix by DJ Ryzon feat. Danza Kuduro by Don Omar + Lucenzo and Rabiosa by Shakira.
A separate poetic narrative runs through in the subtitles, composed through Frankensteining lines of text from the above songs.
